At The Half-Way Mark

I am half-way through the SMK Season Five Screenwriting project. Script number six, I will be posting next week (once I get it back from the betas). Nevertheless, I would love some feedback on where the rest of the season should go - kind of like interactive fiction. What would YOU have liked to have seen if there had been a season five of Scarecrow and Mrs. King? Any comments, suggestions, feedback on the first six scripts? Don't be shy, I am open to ideas. This is your season too.

Also, I will be posting a new SMK fan fiction story soon. A short, little one-shot, set season one, between "There Goes the Neighborhood" and "If Thoughts Could Kill." I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and write early Lee and Amanda. Sadly, this story was supposed to be submitted to the SMK 30th Anniversary zine, but because of an illness, I missed the deadline.

Lastly, I am always open to story suggestions. Anyone have a request?

Save GCB Campaign

I'm not going to hold my breath that ABC changes it's mind about returning GCB to next season's lineup, but there is a campaign to save the show and I thought I would share the links.

GCB is delightfully funny, although at times a bit over the top, and irreverent, but is witty, clever, magnificently acted, brilliantly written, and devilish fun.

The star studded cast includes: Leslie Bibb, Annie Potts, David James Elliott, Bruce Boxleitner, Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Aspen, and Mark Deklin.

The First Season is available on Amazon or follow the Save GCB campaign on Twitter or Facebook.

Scars

Lying on the exam table, I overheard my cardiologist apologize for the large scar across my upper chest. I shrugged my shoulders.  Both emotional and physical trauma can leave scars. These blemishes are a part of life, and even though the scars remain, we carry on. They are a passage of time, a road map of where we have been, and who we are.

I received my first scar when I was five-years old. I had been lying under the coffee table and tired to stand up, but instead, I hit the corner of the table, resulting in a small gash on my forehead. My parents rushed me to the emergency room where I was stitched up. My grandmother fussed over me, complaining about the scar I would have above my right eye. In my young mind I heard star and I thought it was neat I had a ‘star’ on my forehead.  I have other childhood scars, lumps, bumps and bruises from falls off bicycles, skateboards, and rollerskates, smallpox pockmark, acne, and chickenpox. Scars from multiple surgeries, scars from being a klutz; including unfortunate accidents with a glue gun and a pocketknife. (I received the Boo-Boo award at Girl’s Camp for the pocketknife incident). A scar from a staph infection where surgeons had to cut into my throat, below my jawbone, to remove the dead skin tissue because of a staph infection, and a scar on my lower belly where surgeons had to perform an emergency Cesarean section to save my youngest son’s life.

These marks can be seen as disfigurements, stains, or imperfections, but they are my badge of honor and I am not ashamed of my scars.

Michael's Got Talent

Another Proud Momma moment. . . thought I would share a blurb written in our church's monthly newsletter about my son, Michael.

"Michael Riener braved the crowd and stepped up to be one of the first performers in the brand new 'ALLYN'S GOT TALENT' show held Friday night, July 20th that jump-started Allyn Days. He did us proud with his rendition of Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire' displaying a marvelous deep bass voice and looking like a cool drink of western water with his hat and guitar. He got a tremendous hand from the audience and judges liked him enough to call him back for the finals. Though he did not win their prize, he won our admiration. Good work, Michael, we're looking forward to your next performance." - Josephine Motes

Life Is a Rollercoaster

Yes, it’s been one of those weeks – a rollercoaster of emotions, with lots of ups and downs and twists and turns, stops and starts, and it seems even the littlest of things are getting to me. I feel the turns, I feel the pull, I feel the wind on my face, I feel the lump in my throat, I feel the pit in my stomach, but I throw up my hands high in the air, hang on, and enjoy the ride.

Review: The Circle of Law

The Circle of Law (2nd edition) by Lia London is available on Amazon. The Kindle edition is only $3.95.

Through the Laws of the Ancients, we learn:

"Pride Leads to Ignorance, Humility to Knowledge
Integrity is Power
Unity is Strength
Serving Others Serves Self; Serving Self Serves No One Else
Listen
Understanding and Anger Cannot Live Together
Truth is Recognized, Not Created
Empowerment is Not Entitlement."

London has created a fantastic part fantasy, part adventure, good versus evil story with a fascinating, imaginative new world. Her descriptions are vivid, her dialogue superb, and the characters are fun to follow. I highly recommend this book.

In addition, those interested in interactive stories, come participate in her newest adventure story: Magian High.

     "Hey. . . it's me."

I live in the shadows of the Olympic Mountains in the state of Washington and I love camping, boating, kayaking, hiking, and hanging out with my husband, our three adult children, and our Bernese Mountain dog, Henry.

I am a paraeducator working with special needs children. In my spare time, I read, write, listen to music, direct community theater, work on family history, and visit forest fire lookouts and lighthouses.

"Actually, I do a lot of things."

My favorite television show growing up was Scarecrow and Mrs. King and my screenplays and fan fiction stories are all based on that series (with some Chuck crossovers thrown in).

"There is a thin line that separates laughter and pain, comedy and tragedy, humor and hurt." ~ Erma Bombeck
