Chuck and SMK News

Scarecrow and Mrs. King season two was released for purchase on DVD today. Yeah! What I dislike is the DVD did not come with any extras. . . again. Boo! I also did not like I had to stop at three stores before I found the DVD's on the shelf. Neither Target nor Walmart had it available for purchase at their stores. . . epic FAIL! However, Best Buy had several copies on the shelf. I'm just excited to finally have the series available on DVD and hope Warner Bros. releases season three and four soon. (My two favorite seasons).

I watched Chuck last night, and although there were funny moments the show has been disappointing me more times then not this season. In a lot of ways, it is similar to SMK's final season. A great episode followed by several uninteresting, unoriginal and unwitty episodes. I was talking with some friends a few weeks ago about Chuck and how this season is so much more violent. Yes, I understand he is a spy now and there will be more violence, but the show has a lot of the charm that made me fall in love with Chuck. From what I understand there are new writers this season and I don't think they have a clue what makes Chuck work. Even the humor at the Buy More has fallen flat. Certain fans are saying it 'jumped the shark,' because they finally have Chuck and Sarah together, further proving to these naysayers romance can not work and keep a show interesting and fresh and exciting. To them I give you a big raspberry!!!

However, the show is hemorrhaging viewers. Last night was another drop in the rating. . .  dipping to a new low. It is even losing its 18 to 34 demographics fanbase. Even my husband and oldest son have lost interest in the show. I will continue to support Chuck and watch it every week, and continue to support Subway. . . whatever it takes; however, it will require a miracle for us fans to get a fifth season.

Japan Earthquake

3/14/2011

I can't begin to describe how much my heart is breaking for the people of Japan following the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011.

My sister was an exchange student in Japan her senior year, and we ourselves have taken in cultural exchange students from Japan, while my cousin teaches English in Japan and has been posting on his Facebook status the conditions him and his family are going through--running out of food, transportation being difficult, gas stations out of fuel, and the frequent aftershocks. In addition, we have friends both stationed or working for the U.S. Navy in Japan, so we feel a close connection to the country. My heartfelt prayers go out to those suffering and in pain and those who lost homes and loved ones. I also pray the nuclear disaster is contained and these are no further victims.

Living in the Pacific Northwest and having experienced earthquakes, including the Nisqually quake of 2001, I have no doubt that it is not if but when a big one will hit us, and know the people of Japan will reach out to us just as we have reached out to them.

One way we can help is through donations to relief efforts. I recommend these sites.

What makes me smile? :D

What makes me smile: Joey who will still cuddle with me and tells me jokes and stories, Steffen's endless quest for learning, Michael’s young heart, Ed singing, date nights, reading well-written fan fiction, watching reruns of Scarecrow and Mrs. King and current episodes of Chuck, purring kitties on my lap, big, sloppy doggie kisses, spring flowers, waterfalls, and finishing projects.

What makes you smile?

     "Hey. . . it's me."

I live in the shadows of the Olympic Mountains in the state of Washington and I love camping, boating, kayaking, hiking, and hanging out with my husband, our three adult children, and our Bernese Mountain dog, Henry.

I am a paraeducator working with special needs children. In my spare time, I read, write, listen to music, direct community theater, work on family history, and visit forest fire lookouts and lighthouses.

"Actually, I do a lot of things."

My favorite television show growing up was Scarecrow and Mrs. King and my screenplays and fan fiction stories are all based on that series (with some Chuck crossovers thrown in).
