I already wrote a blog entry on my favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories, but thought I would list my top ten personal favorite SMK fan fiction authors. I apologize to those who are not on the list, since there are several I love, but could not include everyone. (Please forgive me TS, mrsvanderhosen, Merel, KissHerJack, LorelaiSquared, Toto, Robin and anyone else I may have forgotten). The list is in alphabetical order. Click on the author's screen name to link to their stories on Fanfiction.net. Stories can also be found on IFF Film Library, Wicky Archive, and Blue Boxers and Beyond. These sites can be found under the SMK link section on the menu bar.

I have to apologize - I am really behind on my blog postings. In addition, I have not forgotten about the screenwriting project. I'm still plugging away on script #7, but it just has not been as easy to write as the other ones were. I promise, I will complete it, and hopefully, will be posting soon. In the meanwhile, I have become a bit distracted by another hobby of mine. . . family history.
I really enjoy researching. And it's fun finding new information and 'meeting' cousins from all over the world wide web. I admit though, I took a long extended break from genealogy, after an older program I have been using crashed, and I lost half the names on my list. I could not even look at the program without getting literary sick to my stomach. Then over the Thanksgiving weekend, I was given some new information and we visited a couple of cemeteries in the Cottonwood, Idaho area and I opened up the program and began to re-enter what was lost and enter new data. I'm still working with Personal Ancestral File (PAF) - but the LDS Church is no longer supporting or updating this program, so I have been looking for new software or an online family tree program. I'm leaning towards Family Tree Maker. I like Ancestry, but can't afford the yearly subscription. I prefer to visit free database sites. I highly recommend Family Search. You can search birth, marriage, and death records from several different states, United States Census records, the Social Security Death Index, military records, etc. It has been a wealth of information. There is also record collections for Asia, Africa, Europe, Canada, and more. (Although, I have not had much time to explore these collections). I also like Find A Grave, another free program and it has been very helpful is verifying dates and birth and death locations of family members. Heritage Quest is another good source and can be found on many local library websites, most requires a library card to enter the site, but information can be found on these reference databases, including Federal census data and genealogy books and serials. If your family immigrated into the states and came through New York City, Ellis Island passenger records search is free. And of course, Family Search Centers are located around the world. Click on this link to find the center nearest you. Always free, except if you choice to make copies and then there is a small photocopy fee - but a very helpful and friendly staff. To me, researching family history is like a mystery, and each new discovery or clue, unlocks the past. So, I am off to do some more exploring. . . Lia London's newest collaborative fiction story is available for download from Amazon until December 4. Magian High is like Hogwarts, but it's not. Can desegregation work or was it doomed to fail from the start? Book Description: The Punkers moved towards us, and Amity and I were forced to back down the steps. When we reached the bottom, they formed a ring around us, all flying just a few inches above the ground. With their shoulders almost touching, they locked us in and began to rotate slowly around us, like a hovering wheel of stupid. Except that they all either had Water Balls or flaming thumbs. We’re not supposed to use any magic on campus except Flash Jumping to get to outbuildings for classes, but I knew no one would really see what they were doing. Amity and I found ourselves back-to-back like the trapped heroes in the movies always do, except that I knew we didn’t have any awesome moves to bust out with. Remember to support Independent Authors. The Circle of Law (2nd edition) by Lia London is available on Amazon. The Kindle edition is only $3.95.
Through the Laws of the Ancients, we learn: "Pride Leads to Ignorance, Humility to Knowledge Integrity is Power Unity is Strength Serving Others Serves Self; Serving Self Serves No One Else Listen Understanding and Anger Cannot Live Together Truth is Recognized, Not Created Empowerment is Not Entitlement." London has created a fantastic part fantasy, part adventure, good versus evil story with a fascinating, imaginative new world. Her descriptions are vivid, her dialogue superb, and the characters are fun to follow. I highly recommend this book. In addition, those interested in interactive stories, come participate in her newest adventure story: Magian High. People often ask me for fan fiction recommendations, so I thought it would be fun to share a list of my personal favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories; therefore, I present "The Aluminum Sun Awards." Note: These are my own personal choices and categories. I tend to enjoy a well written, character driven drama a little more than fluff - but no worries, I included plenty of fluff. Would love to receive some feedback - I know not everyone has the same taste as I do, and would like to hear what your choices would be. (I hope someday to do this for Chuck, but have barely scratched the surface of Chuck (Charah) stories out there – although, I do love the story Amilyn wrote for me – Neighborly Intervention - it is utter Jellie joy). A drum roll please - and without further ado, my favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories. . . Here are links to purchase books written by Greg Morton.
The Fury of the Bear To Catch a Fox Lifting a Foot Forward: A Lesson In Balance The Untitled Poems A House in a Field of Reeds Ever since I was a little girl I've dreamt of visiting Europe, and seeing the Alps and my very first castle. Then in the winter of 2008, Ed and I were able to go on a trip of my dreams as we toured the countries of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We also took in the sights used in the filming of Scarecrow and Mrs. King, as well as, The Sound of Music. I wrote a day by day account of our trip (it's a bit long), but we had 14 wonderful days, just the two of us. However, I have to admit a few days into our trip, I really started to me the boys. **Pride Leads to Ignorance, Humility to Knowledge**Integrity is Power**Unity is Strength**Serving Others Serves Self; Serving Self Serves No One Else**Listen**Understanding and Anger Cannot Live Together**Truth is Recognized, Not Created**Empowerment is Not Entitlement**
~The Circle of Law--by Lia London I am excited for my friend Lia and for the upcoming release of her first book, The Circle of Law. Having had a sneak peak, all I can saw is--it is imaginative, creative, and a wonderful fantasy adventure novel. I highly recommend. Dropping beneath the clouds into Norfolk, I was genially surprised by the size of the naval base, much larger than Naval Base Kitsap. After debarking the plane, I found the air to be electrically charged and humid. There had been thunderstorms earlier which had delayed our flight by about an hour. We picked up our rental car and we immediately turned on the air conditioning, although it was only about 50 degrees outside. We were able to rent a car from Avis and for only a couple more dollars a day, we upgraded to the midsize. We have had some mixed experiences with rental car companies, but found Avis to very professional and accommodating. Kudos to Avis.
Although, far from being a world-class traveler, I have been fortunate enough to do some traveling, especially on the west coast. (Before anyone asks why I did not include the Grand Canyon. . . all I can say is I have not been there yet--it’s on my Bucket List). Under the cut is a list of my personal favorite vacation spots in the west:
