My youngest son's conference also went well. He is trying really hard and on his own without any promptings has been working with his teachers during lunch break. His social studies and language arts teacher expressed concerns regarding his struggles in school and asked if I was okay with the school testing him. Of course, I said, "Yes!" I had been fighting with his previous school district for years to get him tested. They continued to brush me aside and not address my concerns. I am so glad we had the opportunity to place him in a different school district this year. He is being tested in reading, math, written language, social, and emotional and behavioral. He seems to be well liked by the teachers I had the opportunity to talk to and they all think he is very creative. As a matter of fact, his language arts/ social studies teacher recommended Joey sign up for drama for his exploratory class. He seems to be enjoying it. I can't begin to express my appreciation and gratitude for a school who I feel is finally looking out for the best interest of Joseph. I look forward to meeting with the team next week.
A few weeks ago, I was able to attend parent-teacher conferences for my two younger boys. I couldn't be prouder of my middle son. All his teachers adore him. They think he is charming, helpful, hard working, and intelligent. He is always willing to participate in class discussions and help other students with they have questions. In addition, he had a 4.0 for the first quarter. Way to go, Steffen!

The end of October, I had the opportunity to attend a special screening of Tron at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The move Tron originally opened on July 9, 1982, the summer between my middle and high school years. I have to admit, I was not exactly enamored with the film. I enjoyed it, but also was very confused. Home computers and video games were still very much in their infancy and programming was a whole new language. However, I had grown to love the movie and was super excited when a sequel was finally announced 20-some odd years after the original release. I enjoyed Tron Legacy and was glad we make the trip to Seattle to see the movie in 3D at the IMAX Theatre. However, I felt Bruce Boxleitner should have had a much larger role in the film, after all, he is TRON! And I now wait impatiently for Tron 3. Hint-Hint, Disney. In addition, I also highly recommend Tron fans tune into Tron:Uprising. This animated series is state of the art, has spectacular and a bit edgy animation (a mix of Anime/Manga style), interesting story progression, great writing, and talented voice actors. It currently airs on Disney's XD channel. Check your local listings.
